About ROHH

Ray of Hope Haematology (ROHH) was founded by Dr Yadhia Maharaj, a specialist haematologist with a deep commitment to personalised, evidence-based patient care. Previously known as HaemTeam, the practice transitioned under Dr Maharaj’s leadership following the retirement of Dr Gunther.

Meet Dr Y Maharaj

Dr Yadhia Maharaj is the founder and lead clinical haematologist at Ray of Hope Haematology, formerly known as the HaemTeam. Named after her son Rayaan—her inspiration and the light of her life—ROHH reflects her deep commitment to compassionate, patient-focused care. Dr Maharaj holds an MBChB from WITS, a Fellowship in Pathology, and a Master’s in Medicine from Stellenbosch, where she specialised in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). Dr Maharaj completed her certificate in clinical haematology Cum Laude and was awarded the certificate of merit. She has a special interest in general haematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplants. Outside the clinic, she enjoys swimming, reading, and exploring good food.
